As a first generation college student I have been granted multiple opportunities at WWU that have ultimately changed my life for the better. Currently, I am part of the Operations Management program here at WWU. The Operations management focuses on the direction and control of the processes within an organization. We learn each step in providing a service or product from acquisition of the raw materials and component parts to delivery to the customer. We learn to determine what equipment, labor, tools, facilities, materials, energy, and information are required, how these can best be obtained, and how they are used to satisfy the requirements of the market place. This program may seem intense at first, but through it I have been able to leave long lasting footprints within companies such as Boeing, REI, and Horizon Air.
However, without the gift of an education from my father who passed me his GI Bill, and the help of WWU Veterans assistance center none of this would have been possible. Wendy at the WWU V.A. office has helped me through multiple paperwork mental breakdowns and always ensured that all my bases are covered. Wendy and her team are one of the big reasons why I am able to say that I am part of #WWU.
