Abercrombie and Fitch is a globally known clothing store that caters to women, men and children. Whatcom county’s Bellis Fair Mall hosts one of the seven Abercrombie and Fitch’s in Washington state.
Though Abercrombie is a large company interviewing the store manager Caitie. It’s easy to see just how much Western Washington University has impacted the Bellis Fair location. With almost 30 employees it was surprising to find that less than 10 were Western students. Two of which were the store managers and a few were either students in Whatcom Community College or seniors in some of the local high schools. Many of the university students all have different majors some being environmental studies, accounting, and even chemistry. The age range of the employees is from 18-27.
Abercrombie not only employees current students they are also known to employee alumni as well. In order to be a manger for this company there is an education requirement of a bachelor's degree, however there is no specification on the type of bachelor degree you need. Though currently the two managers are not Western Alumni. In the past 3 years they have employed four Western Alumni as store managers, many of the managers have relocated to different store branches. Hollister which is a sister company currently has two Western alumni store managers. For those graduating soon or have already graduated, Abercrombie is currently looking for someone to fill the position of manager in training which is a two week process that ends in becoming a manger.
Abercrombie hasn’t held any formal event with Western, however it is not uncommon for managers to visit campus to do some recruiting. Abercrombie is always hiring for there two position of brand representative and stock associate. Abercrombie has even more of a demand for associates during the holiday season which is from November-December. So if you are looking for a small part-time job to help buy someone Christmas presents Abercrombie and Fitch is always a place to consider.
