Bellingham and wind go hand in hand together. Even though for different areas of Washington the weather will always be insanely different, but if you’ve never experienced much wind before moving up to Bellingham, you are in for a shock. Though, keep in mind you will eventually get used to the wind and it won’t be a second thought.
To prepare for the wind, you can take a few precautions!
After being here for almost an entire quarter, I have finally gotten used to hearing the wind and find it almost relaxing to fall asleep to. A majority of the students at Western have come to really enjoy the windy weather and miss it when the wind has died down or visiting an area with less or no wind. Something you can always count on with wind, is being able to be cooled down or having a breath of fresh air at your doorstep. On the other hand it’s helpful when cooking and needing to air out whatever you managed to burn.
On a more serious note, the wind up in Bellingham does eventually become a normal occurrence. Yes, sometimes we do have wind storms like our last one that was more hype for the windstorm that the actual storm itself. We just have to accept that and move along. Welcome to Western Washington University, we have...wind?
